"CERTAINLY" draws inspiration from La Monte Young’s Composition 1960 #10 — “Draw a straight line and follow it” — using its apparent simplicity but eventual impossibility to explore the inevitable deviations that arise from uncertainty, choice, and external forces. Transforming this conundrum into a framework for experimentation, the exhibition examines the tension between control and freedom, planning and improvisation, and treats deviation not as failure but as a productive creative force. Bringing together artists including Pak Sheung Chuen (Hong Kong), Lousy (Hong Kong), Young-Hae Chang Heavy Industries (Korea/US) Santiago Sierra (Mexico), Shinro Ohtake (Japan), Peter Robinson (New Zealand), and Weng Io Wong (Macao), the exhibition spans diverse media and approaches to reflect on the impossibility of perfect prediction and the fertile creative space that emerges when systems, structures, and expectations begin to fracture.
CERTAINLY 汲取自藝術家兼作曲家 La Monte Young 於 1960 年創作的指示性作品《Composition 1960 #10》──「畫一條直線，然後沿著它前行」──以其表面的簡單性與最終的不可實現性，探討因不確定性、選擇與外在力量而產生的必然偏移。展覽將此悖論轉化為實驗的框架，審視控制與自由、計劃與即興之間的微妙張力，並將“偏離”視為一種具有建設性的創造力量，而非對控制的失守。展覽匯集了包括白雙全（香港）、Lousy（香港）、Young-Hae Chang Heavy Industries（韓國／美國）、Santiago Sierra（墨西哥）、大竹伸朗（日本）、Peter Robinson（紐西蘭）及翁奕王（澳門）等藝術家，橫跨多種媒介與創作方式，共同反思完美預測的不可能性，以及在系統、結構與預期逐漸瓦解之際，所湧現出的豐饒創作之地。
